Anna Leigh Ashford

Annaleigh Amanda Ashford (born April 14th, 1980) was an American performer, actor as well as a dancer. The first Broadway roles are Wicked Legally Blonde & Hair. She received an award from the Tony Award for Best Featured actor in a Play in the role of Essie Carmichael from You Can't Take It With You. Annaleigh Ashley Tony Award winning actor and actress has collaborated with directors, actors, and other performers on stage and screen for the entirety of her professional career. Ashford's upcoming project is a limited edition Hulu series called Welcome to Chippendales, created by Robert Siegel. The show debuts on November 22 and Ashford stars opposite Kumail Najiani. Ashford is currently engaged in the production of Searchlight Pictures' horror film Dust which stars Sarah Paulson alongside Ebon and Moss Bachrach. The film is an Hulu Original, the film is available on Disney Digital Television's channels. In March of 2023 Ashford will make a return appearance on Broadway and will be starring alongside Josh Groban in the revival of Stephen Sondheim's Sweeney Todd at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre. The production is directed by Thomas Kail and produced by Jeffrey Seller, the team that created Hamilton. Ashford was most recently seen in the role of Paula Jones in Ryan Murphy FX series American Crime Story Impeachment. The series is based on the National Crisis, which saw Paula Jones Monica Lewinsky Linda Tripp in the middle of the first impeachment proceeding in America during the Over a Century. The two-season run she had on the CBS comedy B Positive was her first significant character. The show was created by Chuck Lorre with Marco Pennette. It featured Linda lavin as well as Hector Elizondo as well as Ben Vereen. Ashford is no stranger to Broadway. The role she played as Essie in You Can't Take It with You earned her Tony Drama Desk Awards and Outer Critics Circle Awards. The actress has also performed on Broadway in Sunday in the Park With George Wicked, Legally Blonde and the first character as Lauren as Lauren in Kinky Boots for which she received a nomination for an Tony Award. She was born and grew up in Denver Ashford is now dividing her time between Los Angeles and New York.
