Sara Ramirez
Sara Ramirez has been a Mexican American performer, actress, and songwriter for many years. In her early years Sara was targeted for racial discrimination by many people in America. When she went to a school competition and received great praise for her performance, in ninth grade the young girl started to grow more confident. The experience not only helped to boost her confidence, but also changed her outlook on the future. The 22-year-old earned an education from the Julliard School in New York. In 1993, she had her Broadway debut with Paul Simon's The Capeman. Her first film was called You've Got Mail. The most notable success of her career came when she played The Lady Of The Lake on Spamalot's initial Broadway production. Not only did she win the Tony Award, but her performance was also praised by reviewers. The recognition grew even more when she appeared in Grey's Anatomy on ABC as Dr. Callie Torres. As a well-known singer, she has also recorded an album and a musical. She is also an activist who is active to promote LGBT rights.
